I learned a couple of things, the first of which being that for once his current band doesn’t suck...

...except when they tried to cover Hysteria by Muse, the bassist couldn’t keep up. They needed Mechbass (above video)

Kinja'd!!!

Secondly , I need to get out more because I had a great time. I realized that I hadn’t talked to any girls my age in months, they’re pretty fun.

Which leads to point three ...

Kinja'd!!!

...I met my best friend’s girlfriend, and she’s the coolest person ever... of all time. Dude is lucky.

íslo tyi , turn the damn music down. I’m 23 years old, but seriously, if the music causes discomfort it’s too loud. There were only 25-30 people there, it’s not as if the bodies were absorbing the sound.

Numero cinco , Four Hands Wheat Ale is garbage. Don’t drink it. I had a Schlafly Pale Ale before I went, it was much better.

Kinja'd!!!

Finally , I had to laugh at the reaction I got from everyone I met. Every time my friend introduced me to someone they went “oh, he’s the guy with the Masters degree you told me about”, which I found amusing. Apparently my friend brags on me more than I knew. Neat.

That’s some good Pontiac right there. Sounds like a good night

Point four reminded me of when I was in grad school. I went to a different school than I got my bachelors at. One of my best friends, who is a year older than I am, was going to the same school and still working on his bachelors. I started hanging out with him and his group of friends, where it turned out I was younger than all of them, but they were all still undergrads. They kept asking me how is it possible that I was in grad school already. They acted like I was some kind of wizard or something. I finally shot back, “Well I did this weird thing. I went to a university right after high school, and I graduated in four years.” That shut them up.

It’s crazy how people take 6 or more years to finish undergrad.

I know one guy who went into his senior year and decided to completely change majors. Guess what, he has to stay another three years.

I could never do that to myself. Just get your degree and move on with life.

I had to take 21 hours of classes over three summers to get out on time (while working construction), but I freaking did it.

I was halfway through my junior year of an architecture degree, when I decided to go into teaching instead. Rather than switch majors and subject myself to an obscene amount of years to get a bachelors, I finished the architecture degree, and went to grad school for teaching. I finished faster, and I got a grad assistance-ship which made the masters degree almost free.

I think people don’t realize that having a degree doesn’t necessarily lock you in on a specific career for the next 30 years.

Yeah, there’s probably something to that. I think there are also people who purposely switch towards the end, just so they can stay in school longer without going into the real world. For me, while I enjoyed college, by the end of my fifth year (first in grad school) I was ready to be done with it all.
